WhatsApp has just crossed a colossal milestone on Android, with no less than 5 billion downloads …

Android applications (other than those signed by Google) having exceeded the milestone of 5 billion downloads are very rare, and it is now the case of a certain WhatsApp, property of Facebook, whose main application has also passed this same milestone.

WhatsApp, the app that was worth 5 billion (downloads)

Indeed, the messaging application now displays more than 5 billion downloads on the Google PlayStore. A very impressive score, which takes into account direct downloads, but also the versions pre-installed on some smartphones, such as at Samsung in particular.

For the record, WhatsApp claims no less than 1.5 billion active users each month and is the primary means of communication in many countries. Impressive.
