SpaceX’s Starship rocket prototype experienced a huge failure during the pressurization test on Wednesday.

The video from the scene in Texas showed the upper part of the car rupture.

The cryogenic propellants, which were being loaded at the time, were dispersed in the Boca Chica facility in a huge cloud.

US company bills Starship for future multipurpose transportation system. It will be used to carry people and cargo from Earth to destinations around the world.

The Mk-1 prototype was scheduled to begin a hands-on flight at an altitude of 20 km in the coming weeks.

In a tweet, Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, said it can no longer happen and the ship will be scrapped.

Development work is already targeting another prototype called Mk-3.

“[Mk-1] was of some value as a manufacturing pathfinder, but the flight design is quite different,” Musk told social media fans.

A statement issued by SpaceX said, “The purpose of today’s test was to fully pressurize the system, so the results weren’t entirely unexpected.”
