According to foreign media quoted AA interview, MediaTek has confirmed that it will announce a SoC based on 7nm technology and support 5G network, positioning higher than its latest SoC Helio P90.

The P90 was released in December last year and adopted the 12nm process. It first introduced the Cortex A75 large core on the MTK platform, and integrated the PowerVR GM 9446 GPU and APU 2.0. The performance is similar to that of the Snapdragon 710.

Finbarr Moynihan, vice president of sales and business development for MediaTek Europe and the United States, pointed out that the SoC is positioned in the high-end market, but he did not confirm whether this means that the Helio X series will officially return.

However, judging from the words “5G-capable”, MediaTek may not integrate the 5G baseband at the SoC level, but the Helio M70 5G baseband. After all, Qualcomm’s first new flagship SoC with integrated 5G will not be available until the first half of next year.
