Taiwan Semiconductor’s MediaTek announces Helio G80, an intermediate gaming chipset.

Located between the Helio G90 series and the G70 series, the G80 is an upgraded version of the G70. It is manufactured in a 12nm process but consists of a higher clock CPU and GPU.

It consists of two Cortex-A75 cores with a 2.0 GHz clock and six Cortex-A55 cores with a 1.8 GHz clock and has the same Mali-G52 MC2 GPU as the G70, but the clock has increased from 820 MHz to 950 MHz.

In addition, the Helio G80 also offers some advanced features supported by the G90 chipset, including HyperEngine Game technology and built-in voice on wakeup. HyperEngine is a technology that converts LTE + WiFi connections during gameplay when the internet connection is slow.

Meanwhile, the first smartphones with the Helio G80 chipset will be available in India later this month.
