According to foreign media reports, LG officially announced that the LG G5 and LG V20 flagships will no longer receive any software updates, and the official has removed them from the LG mobile phone system maintenance list. This means that the two flagships will miss the latest Android Pie system and there are no subsequent security updates.

The LG G5 and LG V20 were the most creative flagships of the time, and they were released in the first half of 2016 and the second half of 2016 respectively. The LG G5 is LG’s first modular phone, which is similar to the Motorola z3, with additional expansion capabilities through an external module.

Unfortunately, LG failed to continue the modular design. The G5 is LG’s first modular phone and the last.

The LG V20 is innovative with a dual-screen design with a main screen size of 5.7 inches and a resolution of QHD, which is the last LCD flagship of the LG V series. Its secondary screen resolution is 160×400, which can display basic information such as time, power and notification without interruption.

Unfortunately, neither of the flagships has brought the LG smartphone business to glory. LG Electronics CEO Jo Seong-jin said in an interview that LG will continue to retain its loss-making smartphone business, which is very important to LG’s IoT ecosystem. LG has been reorganizing its smartphone business and will complete it in 2020.
