Semiconductor Energy Laboratory (SEL) announced that they have successfully developed the world’s first 7680 × 4320 8K ultra-high-definition 8.3-inch and 13.3-inch OLED screens, with pixel density of 1062PPI and 663PPI.

What does this mean? The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium phone features a 5.5-inch screen with 4K resolution and a pixel density of 801 PPI, which is now a full one-third increase.

Of course, the 8.3-inch screen is a bit big on the phone. If it can be reduced to 6.5-7 inches, but the 6.5-inch 8K resolution, the pixel density will be as high as 1355 PPI, and it is almost impossible to stop the car.

It is understood that these two screens use color filters based on CAAC-IGZO materials, the refresh rate is 60Hz, 120Hz, respectively, the latter is especially high for OLED screens.

SEL has publicly demonstrated the 8.3-inch 8K screen in Japan, but the 13.3-inch 8K still remains in the lab.

The two are mainly tablet machines and notebooks, but it is still unknown when it is put into commercial use.

In addition, SEL also showed an 8.6-inch collapsible OLED screen with a resolution of 1900 × 1200, support BT.2020 color gamut, folding life of 10,000 times, equivalent to 27 times a day in a year.
