The iOS platform restricts third-party apps, Google Assistant for iOS thats why can only wake up by manually tapping the app, but can’t wake up directly through voice commands like Siri.

In an earlier update, Google was unable to create a shortcut of Google Assistant for iOS devices, but in version 1.4.6108 support Apple Siri shortcuts, allowing users to quickly wake up iOS version of Google Assistant digital assistant service through Siri .

However, the version 1.4.6108 update released earlier allows the iOS version of Google Assistant to join the support Apple Siri shortcut, and can wake up the iOS version of the Google Assistant digital assistant service with Siri.

Although it looks a bit embarrassing, Google at least fully follows Apple’s relevant specifications, submits the iOS version of Google Assistant to the App Store in the form of an app, and also follows the Apple Siri shortcut design pattern, so Apple should be difficult to ask Google to make adjustments.

With Google’s case, it is expected that Amazon’s Alexa digital assistant service for iOS platform, or Microsoft’s Cortana on the iOS platform, can follow the same model, allowing users to wake up directly in the Siri shortcut.

However, this feature seems to be only open for Google Assistant in the US.
