Microsoft to provide Android 11 update for first-generation ‘Surface Duo’ within this year

The foreign media reported on the 23rd (local time) that Microsoft’s first-generation Android dual-screen foldable smartphone ‘Surface Duo’ will receive Android 11 update within this year.

The first-generation Surface Duo was announced in September last year, but has yet to receive the Android 11 update. Microsoft had originally planned to deliver the update by the summer, but it is said that the plan has been revised to the end of this year.

The second-generation Surface Duo released by Microsoft was pre-loaded with Android 11 OS. The update provided for the first-generation model is expected to bring new multitasking features applied to the second-generation model.

Samsung Electronics has entered the public beta test of Android 11 One UI 3.0 for the Galaxy S20 series in the United States following Korea.

According to foreign media reports, only T-mobile users can participate in the beta program in the US at this time, but it is expected to gradually expand to other carriers.

To sign up for the One UI 3.0 beta program, you need a Samsung account, and you can apply by installing the Samsung Members app and clicking’Sign up for the One UI beta program’ in the notice.

The beta firmware size released in the US is about 3GB, and the Android security patch for October is also included. When you install the update, you will be the first to experience the changed design, improved performance, and improved features in One UI 3.0.
