Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5G lineup in 2020 may include sensor-shift stabilization in some models of cameras, according to Taiwan Times.

Apple has adopted optical image stabilization technology for the iPhone 11 series. Optical image stabilization technology is based on the optics of the lens. Move the lens element inside the lens to compensate for shake. Sensor shift technology, on the other hand, features a fixed lens and an image sensor that moves inside.

We don’t know why Apple wants to shift to sensor shift, but the company said it could save space, reduce camera bumps, and cut costs.
