Nowadays, many models already support 3D face recognition, such as iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS Max, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, OPPO Find X, Xiaomi 8 transparent exploration version and so on.

It is worth noting that native Android does not currently provide support for 3D face recognition software. The good news is that this feature is expected to complement in Android Q.

On January 26th, XDA God found the string associated with face unlocking in the leaked Android Q AOSP version of the framework-res APK, which means that Google is providing native support for secure face recognition hardware in Android Q.

According to XDA, just like entering a new fingerprint, the Android Q facial entry process also requires the user to set a password, and the user can choose to use the password to unlock at startup.

More importantly, the leaked information shows that facial recognition can be used not only to unlock the phone but also to authorize the purchase and opening of the app.

In addition, Android Q support for secure face recognition means that Google may develop related devices.

By convention, Android Q will be officially unveiled at this year’s Google I/O conference, and we will wait and see.
